I think I’d logged about 500 miles too many for the shoes I wore that year. I remember each bump in the road for the last 15 miles reminded me to get a new pair of shoes.

I remember nothing but whining on all sides of me, though, and later on message boards there was wall-to-wall moaning about the gravel.
