For 2011, Marin Bikes gives the Point Reyes 29er a clean new look. This urban street bike is a 6061 Aluminum frame, carbon fork and built with Shimano’s Deore 3×9 drivetrain.
Gearing is set with a 48/36/26 up front and 11-32 cassette in the back. This year the Point Reyes gets Hydraulic brakes via the Tektro Draco’s with 6″ rotors to provide ample stopping power.
The gloss white frame has red and gray reflective striping to help you be seen out on the streets. A cool design aspect of the frame is the chain stays are widened to accept a mountain tire. So you could throw on the knobbies for a trail ride on the weekend and put on the road tires for the commute to work the next morning. The Point Reyes sees a very slight drop in the MSRP from $1076 down to a better looking price at $999.
