The Sacramento County Department of Regional Parks seeks to close a lightly used road on the south side of the river near Gold River. The road leads to a gravel bar that is used by fishermen and other people who want to park at the river’s edge.
I don’t ride down that way often but I think I know the road (two guys carrying an inflatable raft walked out in front of me there once nearly causing an accident). From a cycling perspective the closure would likely improve safety.
If you have a strong opinion you should attend the meeting on May 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. at 4200 Temescal St. in Fair Oaks.
